On 14th of February, at the site of Tver carriage works (included in Transmashholding), in frames of the area «noncontact technologies», there has been completed the training to the personnel of the plant (car body workshop №2, #QC department, chief metrologist department) and #2050_Integrator of working with laser tracker Leica - the most modern tool with the direct scanning function.

The training course was divided into two parts: theoretical and practical ones. In the beginning, trainees became familiar with the structure of the tracker, safety while using it, its measuring functions on a reflector and direct scanning, as well as features of Polyworks - a highly ergonomic software with the user-friendly interface. This computer technology is convenient to perform the same operation in different ways, and also it is informative enough: all necessary data is shown on the screen during usage.

After the theory, employees began to carry out practical assignments: to build coordinate systems, to apply the function of color cartogram of deviations, and to measure products with the help of a 3D model and without it. During the training, there were performed measurements of a metro coach frame tooling, a metro car deck, a double-deck, a mail car carriage, and a metro carriage toolings.

The laser scanning is one of the initiatives of the Noncontact technologies Competence Center established by 2050-Integrator at the territory of the enterprise in frames of the project "Digital plant TVZ". The technology is designed to perform more accurate control of carriage sidewalls geometry. Data, obtained from laser scanners, gives the opportunity to analyze deviations and collect statistics on them. In the future, this information will allow improving the quality of production.

At TVZ, the laser scanning system is being developed with minimal involvement of a human in the process of geometry measurement, thus excluding a human factor from it.
